HDI Stackup

HDI is High Density Interconnect, which refers to the use of buried, blind, and microvias and any layer of HDI to create compact circuit boards. In addition to the obvious advantage of packing the same board functionality into a smaller space, HDI has many advantages:

HDI Features:

Microvias are very small through holes (usually laser drilled)

Blind vias connect the outer layer to at least one inner layer without the entire board being penetrated.

Buried vias connect one or more inner layers together without any connection to the outer layers of the board.

Any layer HDI refers to the use of stacked copper-filled vias to connect multiple layers in a PCB.
