Aluminum PCB is a unique metal-based copper clad laminate, and the PCB aluminum substrate has good thermal conductivity, electrical insulation properties and mechanical processing properties. It has metal circuit board material, which is composed of copper foil, thermal insulation layer and metal substrate. Its structure is divided into three layers:


Circuit layer: equivalent to the copper clad laminate of ordinary PCB, the thickness of circuit copper foil is 1oz to 10oz.

Insulating layer: The insulating layer is a layer of low thermal resistance thermally conductive insulating material. Thickness: 0.003" to 0.006" inch is the core technology of aluminum-based copper clad laminate, which has obtained UL certification.


Base layer: It is a metal substrate, usually aluminum or optional copper. PCB aluminum substrates such as aluminum-based copper clad laminates and traditional epoxy glass cloth laminates are composed of a circuit layer, a thermally conductive insulating layer, and a metal base layer; the circuit layer (ie, copper foil) is usually etched to form a printed circuit, which connects the various components of the assembly to each other. , Under normal circumstances, the circuit layer is required to have a large current carrying capacity, so thicker copper foil should be used, and the thickness is generally 35μm~280μm;


The thermal insulation layer is the core technology of the PCB aluminum substrate. It is generally composed of special polymers filled with special ceramics. The thermal insulation layer of high-performance PCB aluminum substrates such as IMS-H01, IMS-H02 and LED-0601 uses this technology, which makes it have excellent thermal conductivity and high-strength electrical insulation performance;


The metal base layer is the support member of the aluminum substrate, which requires high thermal conductivity. It is generally an aluminum plate, and a copper plate can also be used (the copper plate can provide better thermal conductivity). It is suitable for conventional machining such as drilling, punching and cutting. Compared with other materials, PCB materials have incomparable advantages. Suitable for surface mount SMT public arts of power components. No radiator is needed, the volume is greatly reduced, the heat dissipation effect is excellent, and the insulation performance and mechanical performance are good.
